Best Luxury Wedding Venues in Ravello Italy

Thinking about getting married in Italy once we can all travel and gather safely again? Always dreamed about saying “I do” along the iconic Amalfi Coast? Ravello, a small town about an hour drive from Positano, is the highest point along the Amalfi Coast with gorgeous water views. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, this wedding destination is perfect for couples with medium to larger sized weddings that want to get married by the water in Italy.

To protect the charm of the small town, the government does not allow cars or buses to go in and out of Ravello. To explore Ravello, one would get dropped off at the town gate and walk into town by foot. There’s also only one car lane that drives up to Ravello, which means there could be occasional traffic jams if a car or bus run into issues on the road. Know that when you are in Ravello, you are experiencing the historic destination the way it should be experienced: without distraction.

Belmond Caruso

Belmond Caruso is one of the most popular venues in Ravello. This venue is an easy walk from the town center, where one would find the town’s Duomo and many casual restaurants. While the view from the venue’s garden is out of this world, the most special thing about Belmond Caruso is definitely the two rows of olive trees that make up the wedding reception area. Imagine having your reception beneath these olive trees, adorned with an abundance of flowers and hanging candles. It is exceedingly special and romantic. Did I mention the venue also has one of the best infinity pools in the world? Move your wedding from the garden to this infinity pool after dinner and dance the night away.

Insider Tip: Belmond Caruso has one large rectangular garden that is segmented into 3 areas by strategic tree placements and elevations in the ground. This means that, if one chooses to have the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner reception all outdoors in the garden, all 3 parts of the wedding will have to be set-up before guests arrive for the day to avoid exposing guests to the set-up process.

Palazzo Avino

If I had to pick one hotel to stay at in Ravello, it would be Palazzo Avino. Maybe it’s the pink walls of the property, maybe it’s the golden entrance to the hotel; it’s just chic inside and out. Every detail is updated and tastefully done. I can’t recommend this property enough for smaller weddings and events (anything less than 50 guests). Palazzo Avino, similar to Belmond Caruso, is also a short walk from the town center (these two hotels are actually right next to each other). I love the venue’s dreamy tiered garden for the wedding ceremony and reception, then move indoors to the 1 Michelin star Rossellinis Restaurant for the dinner reception. I especially appreciate venues with multiple event spaces for guests to ‘move along a journey’ throughout the wedding day. Different spaces create different experiences, and different experiences keep the guests constantly surprised and invested.

Insider Tip: Right by the venue’s main entrance, there are these beautiful and grand stairs. Treat your wedding guests with a welcome drink at this spot, maybe a glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade or some bubbling prosecco. It creates an immediate ‘wow’ moment for your wedding day.

Villa Cimbrone

Last but not least, Villa Cimbrone is my favorite wedding venue in Ravello (and my top 10 in all of Italy). This historical villa-turned-hotel in Ravello dates back to the 11th century. The venue is definitely more challenging to get to compared to Belmond Caruso and Palazzo Avino (comfortable shoes are strongly recommended), but I promise you the venue is worth the hike to get there. There are several gardens to choose from to host the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. For the dinner reception, one can choose to either outdoors in one of the gardens, or have it in the semi-enclosed ‘crypt’ reception space with high arching stone ceilings. The ‘crypt’ space is one of the most unique and magical venue spaces I’ve ever come across. If you’re looking for a venue that’s both tremendously romantic and different, look no further than Villa Cimbrone.

The extensive gardens are open to the public during the day, but can be enjoyed exclusively by hotel guests in the evening. If you are visiting the property, definitely stop by the famous Infinity Terrace! Some claim it has the most beautiful view in the world.

Insider Tip: Since the infinity terrace is technically part of the gardens, it is in fact open to the public during the day. However, for an added fee, one could privatize the infinity terrace after public hours as part of the wedding. Just imagine having your cocktail hour on this terrace! Can anything be more wonderful?
